Christmas Garland from Fallen Leaves

We have been making garland from real leaves that have just fallen from the tree in our backyard and decided to do Christmas colors.  Garland is usually made of plastic and ends up in the landfill.  It feels good to make a "green" version.

A little early for Christmas?  We have been slowing catching the spirit.

Leaves in the making....

And all of the leaves came from this guy in the back yard.  This picture was taken three weeks ago. Most of the leaves had fallen by Halloween.

Did it snow by you?  It snowed at our house today.

Kitchen Floor Tree Art

Been trying really hard to get some art done to post.  Used the forest preserve inspiration to make some painted leaves.  Hope you like our kitchen floor art...

We like to watch the leaves falling from the trees

Move-ember Day 1 went well.  Out of the blue, we went on a hike in the forest preserve close to home.  It's been a loooong time since being there.  Quite creeped out at first, we would not leave sight of our vehicle for the first 20 minutes.  Once we let the forest envelop us, we settled into our theme for the weekend...Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins exploring Middle earth.

We were finding clues left by the Orcs and Elvish symbols as we took our unexpected journey.

I

It was such an expected journey that our camera's battery ran out, so we didn't get many pictures.

We brought home acorns, honey locust thorns, a piece of tree bark, and leaves.....and started painting them. Hope to finish up and post the pictures later.

And here's a haunted house picture that was completed two years ago.  Hope everybody had a great Halloween.
